About
The Chartered Manager Fast-Track apprenticeship provides both valuable leadership knowledge and the opportunity to apply it in the workplace both during the period of study and after during progressive opportunities. Graduates get a full BA Honours Leadership and Management in Integrated Services Degree and are recognised as a Chartered Manager (CMgr) – a gold-standard professional qualification. The programme is designed for experienced leaders or managers who want to progress into leadership roles or advance their practice with the support of a cutting-edge university education. It is an accelerated version of other popular programmes condensed into two years. We typically have two intakes each year (January and September).
Benefits for the Employer
It is proven that organisations who invest in management and leadership development see an expansion in organisational achievement, and an increase in people performance. This qualification will support both internal and external growth with the development of high potential employees, creating leaders at every level. Interpersonal effectiveness is a key driver within organisational development and this programme will support leaders to develop their leadership skills and qualities with links to transferable skills, change management and project development.
Benefits for the Apprentice
Completing a CMDA will support professional development in all leadership and management attributes. Our aim is to develop managers capable of managing complexity and delivering impact at a strategic and/or operational level with management and leadership responsibility for setting and delivering organisational objectives through a wide range of functions. This programme is aimed at professional, new leaders or managers who want to develop all aspects of their management and leadership skills, knowledge, self-awareness, and behaviours. These include strategic decision making, setting direction, and achieving results, building, and leading teams, clear communication, developing skills and motivating others, fostering inclusive and ethical cultures, leading change, project management, financial management, innovation, risk management and developing stakeholder relationships.
Learning Approach
Apprentices will not need to attend university as we offer a blended learning approach to this programme, with a mixture of live face-to-face teaching opportunities and recorded sessions to support inclusivity to you as an apprentice.
Apprentices will also have to complete independent study assignments, including online learning through various VLE platforms. An assessor at the University and a workplace supervisor will undertake regular progress reviews and support you as an apprentice in your work and studies.
In addition to live lectures, apprentices are expected to agree projects with their employer to apply what they have learned to real life leadership opportunities linking knowledge skills and behaviours to practice which support and evidence the end point assessment process.
There are also opportunities for tailored induction activities to help apprentices get to know each other and balance undergraduate-level study with working full-time.
Study Commitment
As a guide, apprentices should expect to study for an additional 8-12 hours per week on top of their scheduled learning. Employers are expected to support their apprentice’s study by providing a workplace mentor and attending some meetings and assessments.
Qualification Awarded
All successful graduates are awarded a BA (Hons) Leadership and Management in Integrated Services degree from Hull University, as well as a Level 6-degree apprenticeship.
They will also be recognised as Chartered Managers and members of the Chartered Management Institute (CMgr MCMI) upon application (fees apply).
