The Doncaster Business Awards returned in spectacular fashion for its 26th year on Thursday, 12th December, shining a spotlight on the region’s finest achievements in business and community impact. Held at Doncaster Racecourse, this prestigious black-tie event welcomed around 900 guests, who enjoyed an evening of glitz, glamour, and live entertainment, celebrating the exceptional talent and dedication that drive Doncaster’s success.
Among the evening’s highlights was the recognition of University Campus Doncaster and Club Doncaster Sports College, whose innovative educational partnership was named Partnership of the Year. This accolade underscores the transformative impact of their collaboration, which has redefined sports education in Doncaster. By blending academic expertise with real-world application, the partnership offers specialist sports degrees in a ‘live sporting environment,’ giving students unique opportunities to work alongside elite athletes and utilize cutting-edge facilities.
A standout feature of this collaboration is the High-Performance Centre at the Eco-Power Stadium. This state-of-the-art facility benefits not only students but also local sports clubs, further strengthening Doncaster’s position as a hub for sports excellence. Students gain hands-on experience using industry-leading equipment and technology, bridging the gap between academic learning and practical career preparation.
John Davis, CEO of Club Doncaster Foundation, expressed his excitement about the recognition, stating, “We’re absolutely thrilled to have received this award at the Doncaster Business Awards. This partnership wouldn’t be possible without the hard work of both our Sports College and University Campus Doncaster teams, who provide essential support and opportunities for our students. As we continue to grow and develop this partnership, we aim to offer even more students the chance to study within the heart of Doncaster.”
Reflecting on the achievement, Sports College Principal Adi Turnpenny, who accepted the award, added, “It’s been a fantastic year for us, and receiving this award has rounded it off. We pride ourselves on offering top-quality sports education in a fantastic environment, and we look forward to continuing to grow this partnership.”
As the partnership continues to evolve, it promises to further enrich the sports education landscape in Doncaster, empowering even more students to excel in the dynamic and competitive sports industry. This award marks a significant milestone in a collaboration that is not just shaping careers but also building a stronger, more vibrant community.
