The Institute of Technology in Doncaster is thrilled to announce the arrival of the WorldSkills team from Japan for a four day-long joint training session in renewable energy. This exciting event will bring together top talents in the field.
The training session will feature Danny McBean, the UK gold medallist in renewable energy, alongside his Japanese counterpart. The event will also include their respective coaches and support staff, ensuring a comprehensive and collaborative training experience.
Last year, the Institute of Technology at University Campus Doncaster hosted the WorldSkills UK Renewable Energy competition, where Danny McBean emerged victorious as the UK gold medallist. His outstanding performance earned him a spot to represent the UK in the prestigious WorldSkills Olympics, scheduled to be held in Lyon, France, in September 2024.
The primary goal of this visit is to facilitate joint training sessions between the UK and Japan gold medallists in renewable energy. This collaboration aims to enhance their skills and preparation for the upcoming WorldSkills Olympics, fostering an environment of mutual learning and excellence.
Throughout the week, the teams will take full advantage of the Institute’s state-of-the-art labs and equipment, including nacelle wind turbines, and solar and wind training systems. The itinerary will focus on intensive practical training sessions, collaborative projects, and skill-sharing workshops designed to push the boundaries of their expertise and readiness for the WorldSkills Olympics.
“We are honoured to host the WorldSkills team from Japan,” said Hamid Jafarnejad, Curriculum Lead at the Institute of Technology in Doncaster. “This visit not only highlights the international spirit of cooperation and excellence in renewable energy but also underscores our commitment to providing top-notch training and facilities for future leaders in this critical field.”
